About Me An introduction and overview of the services I offer
I'm Daniel Coats, a young web designer, writer and problem-solver. Technology excites me, as does creating innovative products to deliver lasting solutions.
I work at the intersection of design and information, both inter-connected, as I strive to inform and engage with people from all variety of demographics.
Realising the opportunity to provide such a solution through designing and developing websites, I'm motivated to develop my skill-set to exceed the needs of my clients.
Now that you've read my 60-second elevator pitch, here's a little more about me. I've lived my entire life in Christchurch, New Zealand, currently moving into my 11th year of high school.
My interests are mainly centered around words and design, through fiction and non-fiction prose to modern forms of design such as web design.
Outside of school and away from my laptop, I run competitively, play the clarinet and enjoy reading books on my Kindle. There's also plenty of time for friends, as well as my new-found interest in baking and cooking.

Working with me
I always strive to take a methodical approach to each project. I believe in transparency and clear explanations at each stage of the design and build of a website.
- Discussion - I start each project by meeting the client, through email, Skype or in person, to introduce myself and also get to know them and the goals of their project.
- Planning - I then take these goals and produce an outline of what the project will include, as well as the estimated cost of the project.
- Iteration - Then I dive right in, using the tools suitable for the job, as I bring the initial ideas to the screen and share progress along the way, taking into account the on-going feedback of the client.
- Build - With the idea established, I then begin coding, testing and refining the website before it goes live, while setting up the domain and hosting for the site.
- Implementation - With the client and I satisfied with the site, I push it live and go through the final checklist to ensure the site is as flawless as possible.
During a project, I like to maintain complete transparency and understanding with the client, delivering regular progress updates and ensuring that they are satisfied with the project's direction.
I also offer instruction on how to maintain the website, so that the client can comfortably update the site's content.
Pricing
I strive to offer a very competitive price for the work I provide, while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
For a custom website with unique layouts, sub-pages, a blog and rich media such as images and video, I charge a flat-rate of $250.
Additional features, such as an online store and site membership capabilities will be charged by the hour, at $16 / hour, within the cost of a pre-determined estimate.
